Bohoboco: Poland's Cult Niche Perfume Brand, Explained (+ the 8 Best Bohoboco Perfumes)
Updated September 2026 · 7 min read

A perfume that smells like potatoes. That's usually the moment people first hear about Bohoboco, and it's fair to be a little confused. But spend five minutes with this Polish brand and you'll see it isn't a gimmick. Bohoboco builds its scents from contrasts: sweet and salty, boozy and innocent, earthy and floral. The results are bold, strange in the best way, and surprisingly wearable.
Below, we explain where the brand comes from, what makes a Bohoboco perfume different, and walk through all 8 Bohoboco fragrances we carry at Intense Oud, starting with the one everyone's talking about.
Where Bohoboco Comes From
Bohoboco started in 2009 as a ready-to-wear fashion label in Warsaw, Poland. Its founder and creative director, Michał Gilbert Lach, came up through the beauty world as a hair and makeup artist and salon owner before building the clothing brand.
Perfume was his childhood dream. His first scent, Vanilla Black Pepper, came out in 2012, and the full fragrance collection launched in 2016. Since then the brand has become one of the most talked-about names in niche perfume, and it's still growing, with new releases arriving as recently as 2026.

What Makes Bohoboco Different?
- Contrast is the whole idea. Every scent pairs two things that shouldn't work together, and the name tells you exactly what they are: Sea Salt Caramel, Vanilla Black Pepper, Coffee White Flowers.
- Everything is unisex. The brand's philosophy is that gender, skin colour, faith and interests don't matter. There's no "for him" or "for her" here.
- Instantly recognisable bottles. Heavy crystal-glass rectangles, a simple white label and a black cube cap. Many of the juices are brightly coloured, so the bottles look great on a shelf.
- Strong performance. Most Bohoboco scents last a long time and project well. One or two sprays is plenty.

#1 · The One Everyone's Talking About
Polish Potatoes
Launched in 2024, Polish Potatoes is Lach's tribute to the Polish markets he remembers from childhood. It went viral on social media before it even officially went on sale. The name sounds like a joke, but the scent is serious.
It opens with beetroot, wheat, pine, grass and a little leather, like a market stall at dawn. The potato note sits in the heart with rose, heliotrope and clove, then dries down into patchouli, damp soil, oud, amber, honey, hay and vanilla. Earthy but not dirty, and much softer and sweeter than you'd expect.
Top: Beetroot, Leather, Pine, Wheat, Grass · Heart: Potato, Rose, Heliotrope, Clove · Base: Patchouli, Soil, Oud, Amber, Vanilla, Honey, Hay

#2 · The Crowd-Pleaser
Wet Cherry Liquor
If Polish Potatoes is the brand's wild card, Wet Cherry Liquor is its easiest win. Boozy cherry and cherry syrup open the scent, followed by strawberry, caramel and Turkish rose, over a warm, creamy base of sandalwood, vetiver, tonka and vanilla.
It's sweet, a little tart and very grown-up. A great first Bohoboco for gourmand fans.
Top: Cherry, Liquor · Heart: Cherry Syrup, Strawberry, Caramel, Turkish Rose · Base: Sandalwood, Vetiver, Tonka Bean, Vanilla

#3 · The Original
Vanilla Black Pepper
This is where it all started. Vanilla Black Pepper was Lach's very first perfume, and it still shows off the brand's style perfectly. Orange blossom opens it softly, heliotrope, frankincense, rose and nutmeg fill the heart, and the base pairs creamy vanilla with a real kick of black pepper.
Warm, powdery and spicy all at once. It works year-round.
Top: Orange Blossom, Bay Leaf · Heart: Heliotrope, Olibanum, Rose, Nutmeg · Base: Black Pepper, Vanilla, Cedar, White Musk

#4 · Best for Summer
Sea Salt Caramel
Sweet and salty, fresh and gourmand. Sea Salt Caramel opens with lemon, sea salt and pink pepper, like a sea breeze. Jasmine, bay leaf and seaweed come next, and it settles into salted caramel, brown sugar and cedar.
It's one of the few gourmands that actually feels good in the heat.
Top: Lemon, Sea Salt, Pink Pepper · Heart: Jasmine, Bay Leaf, Seaweed · Base: Salted Caramel, Brown Sugar, Cedar

#5 · Best for Coffee Lovers
Coffee White Flowers
Rich coffee, cocoa and golden rum, softened by jasmine. It opens with cinnamon, clove and chocolate, moves into coffee and white flowers, and finishes with rum, vanilla and a touch of leather.
Think of an espresso martini with a flower tucked behind its ear. Cozy, a little boozy and very addictive.

#6 · Best Boozy Scent
Red Wine Brown Sugar
Less wine glass, more wine cellar. Dried fruits, red berries and blackberries lead into patchouli, red wine and cedar, and the base brings caramel, sweet liqueur and leather.
It's dry, woody and just sweet enough. A great pick if you find most gourmands too sugary.
Top: Dried Fruits, Red Fruits, Blackberries · Heart: Patchouli, Red Wine, Cedar · Base: Caramel, Sweet Liqueur, Leather, Brown Sugar

#7 · Most Adventurous
Magic Mushrooms
Don't take the name too literally. Magic Mushrooms opens bright with grapefruit, cypress and cardamom, then heads into a wild, green heart of blackcurrant, mushroom, herbs, lavender and ylang-ylang. Moss, patchouli and vetiver ground it at the end.
Tart, herbal and earthy. It changes a lot on skin, which is half the fun.
Top: Grapefruit, Cypress, Cardamom · Heart: Mushroom, Blackcurrant, Thyme, Lavender, Davana, Ylang-Ylang · Base: Moss, Patchouli, Vetiver

#8 · Best Floral
Eternal Lily Amber
The prettiest scent in the lineup. Lily and Sicilian mandarin open with a crisp Granny Smith apple, then lily, Turkish rose and jasmine bloom in the heart. The base is warm amber, patchouli and Madagascar vanilla.
Bright and fresh up top, cozy underneath. The most classic-smelling Bohoboco, and a lovely gift.
