Intense Oud Fragrance Guide
Best Kajal Perfumes: Top Niche Fragrances Ranked
Updated October 2026 · 8 min read

Ask a niche fragrance fan about Kajal and you'll usually get the same reaction: "Why isn't everyone wearing this?" The brand makes rich, beautifully bottled scents that sit somewhere between Paris and the Middle East, and it still flies under the radar for a lot of shoppers in the US.
If you're curious about Kajal perfume, this guide is a good place to start. We'll cover where the house comes from, what makes its scents different, and our ranking of the 10 best Kajal perfumes you can buy right now at Intense Oud.
Where Kajal Comes From
Kajal Perfumes Paris was started by two industry veterans, Ibrahim Faris and Moe Khalaf. They began working on the project in 2012, launched their first fragrance, Kajal Eau de Parfum, in 2014, and followed it with Dahab and Kajal Homme in 2015.
Both founders spent years at big beauty names before going out on their own. Moe Khalaf, now the brand's creative director, started with YSL Beauté, while Ibrahim Faris worked as a brand manager in Dubai. That mix of Western luxury experience and Middle Eastern roots is exactly what you smell in the bottles.
The name has two meanings. In Indian tradition, kajal is the kohl used to line the eyes, a symbol of allure and beauty. It also echoes the Arabic word khajal, which means modesty and looking at others with dignity and respect. Today the house has teams in the UAE, the UK, Canada, Italy and the Philippines.

What Makes a Kajal Fragrance Different?
- East meets West. Every Kajal fragrance blends French perfumery style with the warmth of Arabian ingredients like saffron, oud, rose and amber.
- Big-name perfumers. The brand works with well-known noses, including Mark Buxton, Christian Carbonnel, Rosendo Mateu and Rania Jouaneh.
- Jewel-like bottles. Heavy glass, gold detailing and gem-inspired caps make these some of the most eye-catching bottles in niche perfume.
- A true niche house. Kajal is still small enough to feel special. Wearing a Kajal niche perfume means you're unlikely to smell it on everyone else in the room.
- Mostly unisex. Most of the line works for anyone, so you'll find a Kajal perfume for men and a Kajal perfume for women in almost every style.

Almaz
Almaz is the Arabic word for diamond, and Kajal Almaz is the Kajal perfume most people fall for first. Created by Rania Jouaneh, it opens with bergamot, blackcurrant, lemon and mandarin, moves into a heart of raspberry, rose, iris and heliotrope, and settles on brown sugar, vanilla, tonka, sandalwood and musk.
Fruity, sparkling and softly sweet, with a cozy base that lasts for hours. If you're only going to try one, start here.
